The proliferation of counterfeit goods and products with low quality is a significant problem for the economy of the country. This problem causes business losses and risks and threats to the safety of consumers' health and life. To solve the issue with the circulation of counterfeit products and illegal business in Russia, the National Digital Marking System "Chestny ZNAK" was created. This sign will provide full coverage of all goods in circulation in Russia by 2024. Product marking is widespread in many countries. Nevertheless, it is a fairly new and rapidly developing instrument of state regulation for Russia. The use of this instrument, regardless of the form, is accompanied by transformational phenomena in business and public control.

The analysis of the world experience in the implementation of markings, differing in goals and algorithms, will formulate the distinctive features of each of the systems. In 2020, the experimental period for implementing the "Chestny ZNAK" system reaches its "equator." At this stage, intermediate results, existing barriers, and expert forecasts require evaluation and analysis. Particular attention should be paid to the accounting process of economic entities, whose responsibilities include the transition to the mandatory marking of manufactured and/or sold products.
