Today developed countries have a comprehensive system of distance learning. Firmly established in the whole world, it occupies an important niche in the sphere of education. In Plekhanov University teaching with the help of distant technologies is carried out at the Faculty of Distance Learning created in 1998.

The learning process here is based on the purposeful, controlled, intensive and independent work of the learner.

Distance learning has a number of advantages over the conventional form of learning:

  • flexibility - being able to study without changing your job routine;

  • independence - being able to study at any moment and in any place, without  having to be present in a classroom for many hours;

  • practicality - being able to study as much as you need to master the course or the subject and gaining the knowledge necessary for your choosing speciality – since education, including consulting and taking exams, is arranged on an individual schedule;

  • economy - minimal expenses on education;

  • teaching at FDL is based on the combination of different forms of academic activities:

  • independent work with interactive and conventional (printed) study materials;

  • distant discussing questions in a group Internet conference or individual consultations;

  • interim on-line testing;

  • conventional tests and exams.
