International Teachers Week 2019 in Finland

On March 25-29, 2019, Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Tikkurila, Finland) held an Annual International Week which was attended by Inga Koryagina, Head of the International Division, Faculty of Finance, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.


Laurea University of Applied Sciences is a state university of Finland, established in 1992. The University is a current partner of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics; the universities annually exchange students, staff and the faculty.

This year the topic of the International week was "Innovations Every Day" and it gathered 50 teachers from European universities from 20 countries. The program of the event was rich and diverse and included lectures and presentations on online education project, master classes on innovations and entrepreneurship achievements, and workshops with the exchange of experience on leadership, project and teamwork, international and cross-cultural interaction.

On the opening day the participants were greeted by Jouni Koski, the President of the Laurea University. He suggested joining efforts to meet the educational challenges of our time.


Then Kati Komulainen, Unit Director of Laurea Tikkurila took the floor and stressed the necessity for close-knit, family interaction within the university. "We work together with business, students and international partners" was the main message of Arja Majakulma, Director of International Affairs and Lloyd Bethell, Senior Lecturer.

 Introduction of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics

 Inga Koryagina, gave an interactive lecture on the topic: "Brand Ambassador of Your Own Business," where she spoke about the role of a Brand Ambassador and its influence on company development, as well as the importance of the diplomatic approach to publicity as one of the modern trends.

Inga Koryagina took part in the round table "Promotion of Mobility Abroad and the Struggles of Incomings" under the leadership of Arja Majakulma, Director of International Affairs with representatives from Germany, Finland, Spain, Austria and South Africa. All partners agreed that international mobility broadens the students' horizons and is very important for the globalization and the establishment of the diplomatic and respectful attitude at countries level. Innovative approaches of mutual cooperation and student exchange were discussed and developed.

Inga also took part in the round table "Internationalization of Studies" under the leadership of Conrad Con, Planning Officer of International Affairs (business programs) with the participation of representatives from universities of Finland, Germany, Spain, Austria, Bulgaria and South Africa.

Within the round table the participants shared their experience on how to organize and conduct international programs, their vision and prospects for future joint collaboration, discussed the internationalization of university curricula, the importance of essential aspects of communications, students wellbeing services and the opportunities of online education as a tool of collaborative learning with international partners.

Inga Koryagina took part in the workshop under the leadership of Elina Wainio, Senior Lecturer & Student Mobility Coordinator of Laurea University on the topic: "Exchange and Projects with Peer-to-Peer Business". Inga Koryagina shared practical experience of running such a project with partners from University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne in January-March 2019 and creating web pages for universities of both countries.


Inga Koryagina also spoke about project activities at workshops, the ability to build and work in teams, study business relations in practice, connect the theory and realities of modern business. The proposed methods and tools were enthusiastically received by the international audience.
