International Staff Week

at the University College of Leuven-Limburg, Belgium

Inga Koryagina, an Associate Professor of Marketing Department and a Head of the International Division of the Faculty of Finance, took part in the International Staff Week organized by Sven Cerulus, International Relations Coordinator, University College Leuven-Limburg (UCLL), Belgium, from 2nd to 6th of December, 2019, within the framework of international cooperation between our universities.

The purposes of the visit was to give lectures on modern marketing trends and teambuilding masterclasses on international communications for the students of the UCLL; to discuss the finals of the international online project "Working Across Borders", where three students from the Faculty of Finance and two students from the Faculty of Marketing participated and to negotiate the possibility of our students participation in International Student Business Weeks in UCLL.

UC Leuven-Limburg (UCLL) is a Flemish Catholic college of higher education, a member of the KU Leuven Association. It was created in 2014 by the merger of the former Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg (KHLim), Katholieke Hogeschool Leuven (KHLeuven) and Group T. Nowadays, UC Leuven-Limburg (UCLL) is one of the major universities of applied sciences in Flanders with over 14,000 students and 9 campuses.

Representatives of 14 universities from 12 countries took part in the International Staff Week, including lecturers from such countries as the UK, Spain, Hungary, Belgium, Romania, Greece, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovenia and Russia.

Within the framework of the International Staff Week, Inga Koryagina conducted a lectures on "Modern Trends in Management and Marketing" for students of the first to the third years of bachelor's degree, studying international business accounting, marketing and management, as well as "International Communications" for future managers in the field of health care.

Inga Koryagina also held a master class on teambuilding with the theme: "Communications and team building at the international level", demonstrating the importance of openness and communication with people from different countries on the example of practical tasks. She also noted that communication with people of different cultures helps to expand their own boundaries and opens up new prospects for interaction.

Students of various international programs of the welcoming university were satisfied with the modern information and skilled-oriented seminars. They also noted that the ability to work in a multinational and cross-functional team will be necessary at the international level.

During the International Staff Week, Inga Koryagina had a meeting with An Verjans, Programme Manager Post Graduate Studies Management, Lieve Mulier, Coordinator Business Management across Europe (BME), Module Manager BANABA Advanced Business Management – International Management and Bernadette Abts, Manager of Advanced Business Management at UCLL, to discuss the progress of the online project "Working Across Borders", in which students of the Faculty of Finance and the Faculty of Marketing have been participating since October 2019 and representing Russia in it. The students' preparation for participation in the project have been lasting since January 2019. The participants of the project have become seven foreign universities from the USA, the UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Finland and Israel. The purpose of the business project is to develop real business proposals for an international business company based in the Netherlands.

Belgian colleagues praised highly the level of Russian students training. Based on the results of a year cooperation, three Letters of Graritude were handed out by Sven Cerulus, International Relations Coordinator, thanking Olga Shemetkova, the Dean of the Faculty of Finance, Professor Irina Skorobogatykh, a Head of the Marketing Department, and Inga Koryagina, a Head of International Division, Faculty of Finance, for the level of Russian students readiness for such an international business project with 13 universities:

At the end of the International Staff Week, Kim Plevoets, the Dean of Faculty of Management, handed Inga Koryagina out a Certificate of Participation.

Based on the meetings results, a Belgium part expressed a desire to enlarge a number of UCLL students to be sent on exchange bases to Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
