Training of competitive professionals in the field of catering business, appropriate for their knowledge, skills and competences of the highest international standards

Public catering specialists training with higher education of in our country began in 1921 at the Moscow Institute of national economy named after G. V. Plekhanov. The official foundation date of the Technological Faculty and the academic department of Restaurant Business at the Plekhanov University is agreed to consider the 1941.

Only in the first 10 years of the XXI century, the Department has trained more than 1,200 engineers in the specialty "Technology of public catering products". The Department has been educating bachelors in the following areas of training: "Technological machines and equipment", the profile "Machines and devices for food production" and "Technology and organisation of public catering", the profile "Technology and organisation of restaurant business" (since 2011); "Management", profile "Restaurant business management" (since 2014). Since 2016, we have been recruiting for the Master's programme "Management in the food industry".

All the years of its existing, the Department has been executing education for postgraduate and doctoral students.

The Department of Restaurant Business is currently the leading one in Russia in the field of training engineering and management personnel for public catering and trade enterprises.
