​​​Initially, the Chair of Development of Human Capital was established in 1945 and is one of the oldest at the University. The very first Head of the Chair of Labor Economics was Prof. B. Markus, who worked the editor of such journal as "Economic Problems". Since 1949, for 15 years, the Chair was headed by Prof. A. Grigoryev, since 1965, for over 30 years – Doctor of Economics, Prof. N. Ivanov – Honored Science Worker of the RF. Later on, the Chair was headed by Doctor of Economics, Prof. Y. Odegov – Honored Science Worker of the RF and Doctor of Economics, Prof. Y. Shubenkova – Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the RF, Doctor of Economics, Prof. A. Asaliyev – Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the RF. Since 2013, the Chair was headed by Doctor of Economics, Assistant Professor A. Poltarykhin.
