On October 15, 2019, the Social Navigator MIA Russia Today and the British company QS Quacquarelli Symonds presented a Russified version of the QS EECA University Rankings 2020 ranking, covering universities in developing countries in Europe and Central Asia. In total, the rating included 354 of the best universities in the region, including 105 universities from Russia.

In the new release of the rating of REU them. G.V. Plekhanova rose by one position and now occupies 18th place among Russian universities, overtaking such universities as NES (by 14 positions), RANEPA (by 56 positions), Financial University (by 90 positions) and many others.

The British agency QS highly appreciated the achievements of the Russian University of Economics in the field of science over the past year, and for the first time, our university was assigned the "High" category for research instead of "Moderate".

Other strengths of the rating were the reputation and the number of foreign teachers working in REU. Thus, our university is in the TOP 23% of the strongest universities in the region, in which there are 28 countries.

More detailed results of the rating can be found on the official QS website.

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov commented on the results of the rating: “We have ambitious goals in terms of developing the export of educational services that can be achieved by combining modern educational technologies, an innovative approach, the best traditions of the Soviet school and international experience. In addition to the task of doubling the number of foreign students in the next 5 years, a key component for us is the qualitative component - attracting talented youth to the country, its employment in Russia and the growth of income from the export of educational services. We consider the export of education as a full-fledged sphere of economic activity. With such high competition in the global education market that exists today, the search for unique educational niches and the development of competitive products is not an easy task. This is a challenge to the country and every university. Thanks to the resources of the national projects “Education” and “Science”, we can differentially approach working with various groups of foreign applicants, which is extremely important. Besides, we provide continuous training of teachers, the development of the infrastructure of universities and cities. All this is an investment in the brand "Russian education", which in the coming years should regain its leadership in the most prestigious world ratings. "
