Founded in 1907
March 3 Plekhanov Russian University of Economics held its traditional Plekhanov Ball. This year it has been devoted to the 110th anniversary of the University therefore the historical events going along with PRUE throughout the century were the main concept of the ball. Vishnyakov "himself" told participants and guests about them, the King and Queen of the ball contenders reflected them through dancing as well.
The ballroom dance team of PRUE of 16 took part in the event preparation. Guys acted as choreographs and mentors of King and Queen of the ball challengers. The coach of the team, Stepan Korovin, acted as the senior choreograph of the whole ball. The team presented several colorful performances during the event as well.
Circa 900 people registered for dance classes in December. After many rehearsals there were chosen 100 best pairs of debutants, representatives of 6 branches and guests of honor.
There were 4 pairs to win the title of the King and Queen of the ball. Every pair demonstrated a bright performance, which reflected the particular historical period and dance. Students of the 1st year of Faculty of Economics and Law Alexander Pazukhin and Mariya Efimova have won the main prize.
First of all, the results of the contest estimated with anonymous voting of the participants and the jury, which consisted of: Alexey Fomkin (ballet artist, choreograph). Kirill Kolpashnikov (PRUE graduate, master of sports in sports ball dance), Galina Romashina (senior coach, jury of the first international category), Tatiana Chugrey (dance studio coach, main organizer of the dance championship), Stepan Korovin (senior choreographer of Plekhanov Ball 2017, coach of ballroom dance team of PRUE) and Andrey Tikhonov (chairman of Student council of PRUE).
Besides, the website MediaFamily.com held extramural voting among contenders for the title of King and Queen of the ball. Students of the 1st year of Faculty of Economics and Law Denis Elatomtsev and Tatiana Selezneva won the online nomination.
This year Alexander Smagin, CEO of the Vienna Ball in Moscow, attended the event as the guest of honor. Representatives of branches of PRUE have also been invited: Piatigorsk, Saratov, Sevastopol, Voronezh and Krasnodar. Four pairs (Piatigorsk, Saratov and Sevastopol branches) who had reached the final, took part in the extramural contest in the official group of the ball on Vkontakte for the best branch pair. Representatives of Saratov branch, Esina Kristina and Yaroslav Slepnev, won the contest.
The next to last dance of the event was the flashmob united all the pairs and choreographs in one bright dance. The ball concluded with a colorful waltz.
