Student from Kemerovo branch of PRUE takes part in hackathon organized by Swiss company Open Data

​In the end of February a 2 year student, course "Applied informatics" of Kemerovo branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Mark Khramko took part in hackathon, organized by the Swiss company Open Data that gathers information in various spheres.


This time the hackathon gathered a huge amount of information about food: from the origin of farm products to prepared foods in supermarkets; the team created tools to quickly gain access through the API. The organizers of the hackathon invited IT specialists from all over the world, putting before them the task – to develop software applications that would help people with specific diets or chronic diseases to maintain the required diet.


Mark's team was joined by Dessy Kuhlgatz, Indonesian economist, Mark himself, Russian developer, Tessy Rupert, Swiss designer, Sara Manzano, Mexican lawyer. The team developed an application which daily offers 5 food products out of the nutrition pyramid to user. Diet ranges from vegetarian to kosher and diseases are presented as a list from diabetes to osteochondrosis and cancerous deceases.  


Mark Khramko: "After 24 hours of continuous development, we presented the project and presented the prototype application. A week later we announced that we have entered the six winners from all 18 teams. My team and I still talk on video calls. Experience, explore and our own experience from the project are priceless!"
