Founded in 1907
From February 1 until March 30, 2018, Plekhanov University held International interuniversity economics Olympiad "Business analysis and risk management" for Bachelors, specialists and Masters, organized by Faculty of Finance, Educational and Scientific Center "Finance", Student scientific center for financial research and Academic Department of Financial Management.
The Olympiad was joined by 9 universities, including a foreign one. The PC test and case solving: HSE, Moscow University of technologies, St Petersburg state university of economics, State technologic university of Novosibirsk, Federal university of Siberia, Saratov social and economic institute (branch) of PRUE, Ivanovo branch of PRUE, Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic university named after First President of Russia B. Yeltsin (Bishkek).
The partners of the Olympiad were international and Russian professional associations, research organizations and business, including ACCA, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, ICAEW, "Unified certification committee", Institute of digital economy and law, International Center "Creative technologies of consulting", Scientific and technological Center "Nucleon".
The tasks for the second round of case studies has been provided by: for bachelors and specialists –Srednerussky Bank of Sberbank of Russia; for Masters – Russian branch of the International Association of chartered certified accountants (ACCA).
On March 31, 2018, Plekhanov University hosted the final event with the representatives of the organizing Committee, partners and the jury of the Economic Olympiad. Students of Moscow universities, as well as students and research supervisors of student teams of regional universities and Kyrgyzstan attended the solemn meeting. Dean of faculty of Finance Olga Shemetkova, Director of the Student research center of financial research Natalia Kazakova, President of the Institute of digital economy and law Sergei Gorbunov, Head of the educational projects of the international Association of certified chartered accountants Olga Akimova addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. On behalf of the jury, Natalia Romanova, the head of the research center for accounting and auditing of the digital economy Institute of digital economy and law, expressed a general opinion on the high level of theoretical knowledge and practical competences of the Olympiad participants.
Natalia announced the results of the Olympiad, and then the solemn presentation of certificates to participants and diplomas to the winners of the Olympiad. Team leaders were awarded with diplomas for organizational and methodological training of participants of the Olympiad.
A solemn award ceremony for the winners from St Petersburg state economics university and Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after First President of Russia B. Yeltsin was broadcasted.
A team of Masters from faculty of finance (PRUE, "Business analysis in economy and management), consisting of Sergey Soldatkin, Ekaterina Ivanushkina and Yuliya Stanchulyak, took the first place, and Sergey Soldatkin himself received the first place in the individual competition on the basis of computer testing.
The team was also awarded a special nomination from "ACCA" "for high business competence". Olga Akimova, the head of the educational projects of the international Association of certified chartered accountants "ACCA" expressed her gratitude to PRUE and hoped for a long-term cooperation awarded the participants with prizes.
Special nominations went to Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales "For a contribution into international cooperation in the field of science and education", to the team of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after First President of Russia B. Yeltsin (Aigul Kanatbekova, Aida Kydyrbayeva, Rashid Gulamadshoyev) and the team of Masters of faculty of finance (PRUE) (Ekaterina Ivanushkina, Yuliya Stanchulyak, Sergey Soldatkin).
A special nomination from Institute of digital economy and law "Advanced use of information technologies in the digital economy" went to the team of St Petersburg state economic university (Alexandr Draganov, Sergey Samyshkin, Vladislav Mitin) and Federal University of Siberia (Dmitriy Slyunyaev, Olga Kharlamova, Mikhail Alexandrenko).
For the first time in 2018 within the Olympiad a session for school students "Essay on financial literacy", won by children of 10th and 8th grades from "The Perspective School" (scientific advisor is an economic teacher, post-graduate of chair of financial management) A. Miroshin. The essays were highly appreciated by experts and recommended for publication in the scientific collection of PRUE. Director of the student center for financial research Natalia Kazakova noted the importance of developing competencies in the field of financial literacy and wished success to students in their studies and admission to Plekhanov University.
