The German center of industry and trade held International conference "Prospects of cooperation of educational systems: Russia and China", which was attended by members of International Office of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics on March 16 2017.
The forum was organized by Consortium of leading institutes of China (China Campus Network, CCN), which was established under support of Ministry of education of China with the command center in Shanghai and represented in Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea and India, apart from Russia.
The goal of the Russian-Chinese conference – discussion of training issues for an expanding number of Chinese and Russian enterprises operating on the territory of the two countries.
Yu. Lyakh, representative of Federal Education and Science Supervision Agency, stressed out that China, being the great neighbor of Russia with the borders of more than 4000 km, gains more and more popularity among youth. Today 17000 of Russian school children learn Chinese in 132 schools in 30 regions of Russia, and more than 200 teachers provide instructing this subject. There are also all Russian Olympiads of Chinese held under support of Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
The minister-councilor for educational affairs of Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation Chao Gochen set some interesting facts of cooperation between the two countries. Today academic exchanges are 75 thousand people and the goal for 2020 is to increase this figure to 100 thousand people. In particular, on long-term training in Russia is 22 thousand Chinese citizens (the second largest number of foreign students after Kazakhstan) and 20 million Russians are studying in China (fourth place).
Currently, Russian-Chinese cooperation is going through a new stage which has not only student exchanges but common research centers and higher education institutes.
Great attention to the speakers at the conference was paid to the necessity of studying Russian and Chinese languages and cultures of the two countries, the mentality and requirements to competences in the training of specialists for the rapidly developing Russian-Chinese business.
